Tensions between Washington and Beijing escalated on Wednesday after China fired two missiles into the disputed South China Sea.
This coming as the Trump administration imposed more sanctions on Chinese companies that helped set up outposts in the region.
According to officials Wednesday,... China launched two medium-range missiles in the disputed waterway,... in apparent protest over a U.S. spy plane flying over the area earlier this week.
In response,... the U.S. announced further trade and visa restrictions on 24 Chinese companies.
According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, the sanctions were placed on companies that help China "reclaim and militarize disputed outposts” in the contested maritime area."
