Draft legislation outlines new cannabis possession rules

In 2018, the Constitutional Court ruled that it is legal for personal and medical use. But it is still unlawful to consume it outside your home. Now, Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola has published the draft Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill. It outlines proposed possession rules for users and cultivators. The draft law says that a person found with more than 1 kilogram of dried cannabis, or nine flowering plants, could be jailed for up to 15 years.
