President Moon calls for speedy restoration efforts, financial support

President Moon Jae-in paid visits to some of South Korea's hardest hit areas by the recent string of heavy downpours.
In Hadong County, Gyeongsangnam-do Province,... the president offered words of comfort to the affected,... and called on officials to speed up financial and administrative support.
Coming here and seeing the situation, I feel that the most important factor is how fast we can provide support. We will do our best so that support is made available quickly.
The top office explained that Mr. Moon was accompanied by the fewest possible aides so as not to disturb the restoration work.
He also inspected flood-hit areas and encouraged volunteer workers in Jeollanam-do and Chungcheongnam-do Provinces before returning to Seoul his visits covering a distance of over 760 kilometers.
While making his way there via the presidential train,... he was briefed on the recovery work as well as efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the affected areas.
Moon called on officials to swiftly designate the affected regions as special disaster zones.
It was the president's second on-site visit related to the flood damage.
