Study finds Arctic could be free of sea ice by 2035

"북극해 얼음, 15년 뒤인 2035년쯤 사라진다"

A new study by an international research team has found that the Arctic could lose all its sea ice in just 15 years.
The British Antarctic Survey used the UK Met Office's Hadley Centre climate model... to compare Arctic sea ice conditions during the last interglacial period around 127-thousand years ago, with the present day.
They found out that in spring and early summer, shallow pools of water form on the surface of the Arctic sea ice, called 'melt ponds'.
These 'melt ponds' dictate how much sunlight is absorbed into the ice, and how much is reflected back.
A simulation using the same model showed that the Arctic may become sea ice-free by 2035.
The study was published in the journal Nature Climate Change.
