Government Revokes Endmor Steel's License After Exposé

The county government of Machakos has revoked the license of Endmor steel millers, located in Syokimau. This follows an exposé on the plight of Syokimau residents. Mutua said the move was informed by the need to safeguard livelihoods of local residents who have been experiencing respiratory ailments associated with air pollution emanating from the factory. Dr Mutua said the factory will remain closed until air pollution was stopped and clean production procedures adhered to. Mutua says occupational health and safety standards and protocols must also be put in place to the satisfaction of the national environment management authority.
