Desperate residents evacuated their homes after flash hit eastern Thailand following heavy rain.

Footage shows locals struggling through the deluge that left their village submerged in knee-deep water in Rayong province.

Many of them were taking their belongings out of their houses and waiting for rescue teams to evacuate them to safe shelters.

Four men were seen transporting a scooter using a small plastic boat while a child was being carried on a mother's back, walking through a large amount of water.

One resident, Mimi, said: "We are still waiting for help from the government, it is quite difficult to move our valuable out, we need boats."

Thailand has entered its hot, rainy season, which sees violent rainstorms most days of the week until temperatures start to cool again towards the end of October.
