President Vladimir Putin has won a resounding victory in his bid to stay in power until the middle of the next decade, as Russians voted overwhelmingly to endorse the country's political status quo, according to preliminary results. Russians went to the polls Wednesday to cast ballots in a nationwide referendum on constitutional amendments. The vote paves the way for Putin, who has ruled for two decades, to remain president until 2036.

रूस में हुई हालिया वोटिंग व्लादिमीर पुतिन के लिए बड़ी खुशखबरी लेकर आई है। व्लादिमीर पुतिन अब 2036 तक सत्ता में काबिज रह सकेंगे। वहां की जनता ने इस संविधान संशोधन को मंजूरी दे दी है। दरअसल रूस के राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन को 2036 तक पद पर बने रहने का प्रावधान करने वाले संविधान संशोधन कानून पर जनता की राय मांगी गई थी। इस वोटिंग में जनता ने संशोधन की मंजूरी दी। इस जनमत संग्रह अभियान में करीब 60% वोटरों ने मतदान किया और ऐसा माना जा रहा है कि 76% जनता ने साल 2036 तक पुतिन के ही राष्ट्रपति बने रहने के पक्ष में वोट दिया है.
