Deadly floods and torrential rain in China affect over 8.5 million people

Heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding in China’s southern and eastern regions. More than 8.5 million people in 24 regions have been affected by the weather. Authorities have issued rainstorms warnings in 22 counties in the southern province of Guizhou since June 22, 2020, while Chongqing in the southwest recorded its largest floods since 1940.
