Floods triggered by torrential rains ravage parts of China

Heavy rains and related flooding have affected 1.63 million people in southern and eastern China, according to China’s Ministry of Emergency Management.  About 77,000 people have been evacuated, and at least four deaths have been reported. The worst-affected areas are reportedly in the central province of Hunan and Jiangxi province in the east.
