In this tutorial I explain "how coal is extracted in opencast coal mine by mechanical extraction method". First a survey team is drilling and boring on earth surface at various points to understand presence of mineral, mineral's character, seam thickness etc. etc. with a special type hollow Steel Tube and collects all cores by boring that cores are kept in a core box then they prepare underground map on the basis of the map and taking all clearances from government mining process starts it is often necessary to fragment the overburden by use of explosives this is accomplished by drilling holes into the overabundance filling the holes with explosives and detonating the explosives the overburden then removed using large Earth moving equipment such as excavator and dumper truck the overboard in is then taken to the dumping site by dump truck the overburden is put into the previously mind strip when all the overburden is removed the underlying coal seam is coming out.Once the coal seam is exposed it is is a drilled fractured and thoroughly mined or cut by surface miner the coal then loaded to dumper truck by excavator or by pay loader for Transport it to Railway siding in railway siding coal is loaded to Railway Wagon by pay loader for Transport it to the thermal power station.
