In the Hindu calendar, the Sun's zodiac change according to the solar year is called Sankranti. This day has been called a festival in the Puranas. Whatever amount the Sun enters, it is called the solstice of the same zodiac. Pandit Ganesh Mishra of Kashi's astrologer says that the Sun changes 12 zodiac signs in a year, so this festival is celebrated 12 times a year. In which the Sun resides in different zodiac signs and constellations. On the occasion of Sankranti, donation-dakshina and worship are of special importance.according to the Hindu calendar, after 12 o'clock on the night of June 14, the Sun will move from Taurus to Gemini. Hence it is called Mithun Sankranti. Mithun Sankranti begins the third solar month. The rainy season also comes in this solar month. Mithun Sankranti falls in the month of Ashadh. The of this month is Surya. Therefore, this Sankranti festival becomes even more special.

हिंदू कैलेंडर में सौर वर्ष के अनुसार सूर्य का राशि परिवर्तन संक्रांति कहलाता है। पुराणों में इस दिन को पर्व कहा गया है। सूर्य जिस भी राशि में प्रवेश करता है उसे उसी राशि की संक्रांति कहा जाता है। काशी के ज्योतिषाचार्य पं. गणेश मिश्र बताते हैं कि सूर्य एक साल में 12 राशियां बदलता है इसलिए सालभर में ये पर्व 12 बार मनाया जाता है। जिसमें सूर्य अलग-अलग राशि और नक्षत्रों में रहता है। संक्रांति पर्व पर दान-दक्षिणा और पूजा-पाठ का विशेष महत्व होता है।हिंदू कैलेंडर के अनुसार 14 जून की रात 12 बजे के बाद सूर्य वृष से मिथुन राशि में चला जाएगा। इसलिए इसे मिथुन संक्रांति कहा जाता है। मिथुन संक्रांति से तीसरे सौर महीने की शुरुआत होती है। इस सौर महीने में ही वर्षा ऋतु भी आ जाती है। मिथुन संक्रांति आषाढ़ महीने में आती है। इस महीने के देवता सूर्य हैं। इसलिए ये संक्रांति पर्व और भी खास हो जाता है।
