Nike Pledges $40 Million
to Support Black Communities Nike recently announced their intention to
support the Black community in America with
$40 million in donations over the next four years. According to President and CEO of Nike John Donahoe,
the company's decision to contribute is due
to the “events that have unfolded” recently. John Donahoe,
via statement Donahoe then directly identified the
“enormous suffering” felt by the Black community,
saying we need to “educate ourselves more deeply.” John Donahoe,
via statement Donahoe went on to say that the Nike Inc. family
will “never stop striving” to act as an example of
how a “diverse company” should act. John Donahoe,
via statement The $40 million pledge will
be shared between Nike,
Jordan Brand and Converse. The money will go towards supporting
organizations that address social injustice, education
and racial inequality in the United States.
