South Korea is starting a comprehensive research on cultural assets and natural heritage inside the Demilitarized Zone.
The Cultural Heritage Administration says it will collaborate with the provincial governments of Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do Provinces to begin the year-long survey from Tuesday.
A panel consisting of 55 members will look for archaeological relics and flora and fauna in 40 sites and villages,... including the Joint Security Area in the truce village of Panmunjeom.
This is Seoul's first step toward turning the area into an international peace zone.
