Among the dishes prepared on Eid, macaroni is the most special and macaroni is made from different styles throughout the country. Eid belongs to happiness and sevai is related to sweetness. This is the reason that on this day people are sweetened with Sevai. If we tell that Sevai is not related to Eid, do not be surprised. Actually, Sevai belongs to Nur Jahan of the Mughal period, who made the custom of making Sevai on Eid in India. It is said that for the first time Nur Jahan started making sevai. After which, by 1660, vermicelli spread throughout the Indian subcontinent with Mughal subedars. In this way, gradually Eid has a special relationship with Sevai. As such, the custom of making sevai on the day of Eid became prevalent in India. However, macaroni is also made in Iran.

पूरे देश में इस त्योहार को हर्षोल्लास से मनाया जाता है। ईद के मौके पर सेवई का जिक्र न हो ये बात कुछ हजम नहीं होती। ईद पर बनने वाले पकवानों में सेवई सबसे खास होती है और देश भर में सेवई अलग-अलग स्टाइल से बनाई जाती है। ईद का ताल्लुक खुशी से है और सेवई का ताल्लुक मिठास से है। यही वजह है कि इस दिन सेवई से लोगों का मुंह मीठा किया जाता है।अगर हम बताएं कि सेवई का ताल्लुक ईद से नहीं है तो चौंकिएगा मत। दरअसल, सेवई का ताल्लुक मुगल काल के नूरजहां से है, जिन्होंने हिंदोस्तान में ईद पर सेवई बनाने का रिवाज बनाया। कहा जाता है कि सबसे पहली बार नूरजहां ने सेवई बनाने की शुरुआत की थी। जिसके बाद धीरे-धीरे मुगल सूबेदारों के साथ सन 1660 तक सेंवई पूरे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में फैल गई। इस तरह धीरे-धीरे ईद का सेवई से खास रिश्ता हो गया। यूं तो ईद के दिन सेवई बनाने का रिवाज हिंदोस्तान में ही प्रचलित हुआ। हालांकि, ईरान में भी सेवई बनाई जाती है।
