Bharat Bandh on SC/ST ruling: Police attacked with bricks and stones

Normal life was affected in Madhya Pradesh following widespread disruptions in rail and road traffic, forced closure of offices and vandalism of property.
Several police official were also attacked with bricks and stones. Senior officers posted in west UP claimed the Monday’s violence was well-planned and the police were caught off guard in several areas.
Facing pressure from protests, the Central government moved the Supreme Court to seek recall of its judgment that there would be no automatic arrest of an accused following a complaint under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
