PAGASA raises Signal No. 3 over more areas as ‘Ambo’ makes landfall

Typhoon “Ambo” (international name: “Vongfong”) made landfall over San PolicarpIo, Eastern Samar at noon on Thursday (May 14), packing a potentially devastating combination of torrential rains and violent winds along its path.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said Ambo remained a strong cyclone after landfall, prompting the weather agency to raise Signal No. 3 over more areas on Thursday afternoon.

Sorsogon, Albay, Masbate, Ticao Island, Burias Island, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, the southern tip of Quezon province, Northern Samar, northern parts of Eastern Samar and Samar, and Biliran were placed under Signal No. 3.
