Residents in southern India teamed up at a communal space to practice socially distant yoga - with umbrellas.

Footage shows practitioners in Villupuram municipality in the city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu state, bending their bodies as they perform yoga with umbrellas.

The umbrella creates a safe social distance between the performers amidst the coronavirus crisis.

The footage was captured on May 5.
