A kind family handed out free meals to police and security guards manning COVID-19 checkpoints in the Philippines.

Rica Diaz, 19, prepared the meals with the help of her family members and shared them with officials helping to enforce community quarantine and curfews in Taguig City on May 4.

The teenager and her family prepare the dishes at home then distribute them to struggling families and essential workers, who are helping to contain the spread of the pandemic.

Rica said: "We are sharing our blessings with others because it gives us a sense of purpose and satisfaction. We also believe that the more blessings you give, the more blessings you will receive."

The Philippines, one of the countries in Southeast Asia worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, has recorded 9,485 cases and 623 deaths as of May 5.
