Long queues for free meals as millions in the Philippines go hungry amid coronavirus pandemic
  • 3 years ago
The number of people going hungry in the Philippines has increased during the pandemic. Nearly one-third of all Philippine families - or 7.6 million households - did not have enough food to eat at least once in the three months prior to September 2020, according to a survey by research institute Social Weather Stations. Long queues of mostly homeless people were seen waiting for free meals at a food centre in the capital Manila on December 7, 2020.
