The economic slowdown did not affect liquor sales in Maharashtra last year. The sales went up by almost 10% in the first three quarters of the 2019-20 financial year as compared to the same period in 2018. Tamil Nadu saw the revenue crossing Rs 30,000 crore for the first time in 2018-19 a rise of 16% from 2017-18. The Delhi government is expecting Rs 5,980 core from the excise duty on alcohol in 2019-20, which is 14.1% of the tax revenue it hopes to collect during this period.

शराब की बिक्री से वित्त वर्ष 2019-20 में महाराष्ट्र ने 24,000 करोड़ रुपये, तेलंगाना ने 21,500 करोड़, कर्नाटक ने 20,948 करोड़, पश्चिम बंगाल ने 11,874 करोड़ रुपये, राजस्थान ने 7,800 करोड़ रुपये और पंजाब ने 5,600 करोड़ रुपये का राजस्व हासिल किया था. दिल्ली ने इस दौरान करीब 5,500 करोड़ रुपये का आबकारी शुल्क हासिल किया था. राज्य के कुल राजस्व का यह करीब 14 फीसदी है.
