유엔 사무총장 "한국 코로나 대응 모범…세계가 본받아야"

The United Nations Secretary-General has praised South Korea's response to the coronavirus outbreak, calling it a "remarkable example" that he hopes other nations can follow. But, it's not just for its response to COVID-19, it's also for its fight against climate change.
Our foreign affairs correspondent Oh Jung-hee reports.
The head of the United Nations has called South Korea a "remarkable example" of containing and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pointing to how South Korea saw no new confirmed cases on Thursday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said at a news conference... that Seoul has been "extremely successful" in addressing the pandemic.
He added that South Korea plans to tackle climate change during the recovery, with what he called "a very ambitious green deal" that includes a ban on new coal-fired plants and a reduction in emissions from existing coal-fired plants.
Guterres stressed that he hopes South Korea's example will be followed by other countries around the world.
South Korea saw a peak of almost 1,000 cases a day between late February and early March.
But thanks to preemptive testing and social distancing, the caseload was recently greatly reduced.
Seoul is now exporting its test kits abroad... and holding video conferences with other countries to share its COVID-19 know-how.
