Fishermen in China catch huge three-metre-long ocean sunfish before releasing it
  • 4 years ago
Fishermen caught a massive three-metre-long ocean sunfish and released it back to the sea in eastern China's Ningbo on April 27.

The video, provided by local media with permission, shows a giant ocean sunfish being lifted up and a fisherman pushing it out of the boat's cabin before loosening the rope to release it.

The ocean sunfish is one of the heaviest known bony fishes in the world. However, since its Chinese name "Fanche" means 'car flipping over' and the fish has lots of parasites inside its body, it normally cannot be seen in the markets.
