코로나19 신규확진 27명, 총 1만450명…50일만에 하루 20명대로

It's too early to get carried away or become complacent,... but things are looking better here in South Korea.
The nation confirmed just 27 new cases of COVID-19 on this Friday, …and zero in the country's worst-affected city of Daegu.
This is the lowest number of daily cases since February 20th.
But, as our Eum Jiyoung reports the government here remains vigilant and is urging citizens to maintain social distancing.
The number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea is at just 27 on Friday,...the lowest number of daily infections since February 20th.
This brings the total to ten-thousand-four-hundred-50.
The government says that, although this is a good sign, it is still too early to get carried away.
"If the various factors which cause infection accumulate, it could lead to mass infections. To prevent this, it is important to continue with social distancing."
Meanwhile, there are no new cases in the country's worst-affected city of Daegu.
It has been 52 days since the 31st patient,...known as a "super spreader", was first discovered on February 18th.
The number of new infections in Daegu peaked on February 29, reaching 7-hundred-41 but has been decreasing since then.
In a social media post, South Korean President Moon Jae-in thanked citizens for their collective efforts in containing COVID-19. Moon also asked people to keep up the good work by maintaining social distancing throughout the Easter holidays and the general election. He added that, if the situation improves, the social distancing campaign could be changed to comply with daily prevention measures.
The government is coming up with measures which include what people should do in their daily lives to contain the virus. An announcement is planned for next week.
Authorities have urged people to refrain from assemblies ahead of the Easter holidays and to comply with precautionary measures when voting in the general election, such as keeping a distance of at least one meter from others while waiting.
