Coronavirus community testing begins in Western Cape, South Africa

Community screening and testing for COVID-19 began on Monday (April 6) in Western Cape, South Africa.

Footage filmed in Bo-Kaap area of Cape Town on Tuesday (April 7) shows community workers do door-to-door screening.

If the residents meet the criteria they will be referred to a testing centre at the Schotsche Kloof Civic Centre in Bo-Kaap.

Bo-Kaap along with Khayelitsha, Bishop Lavis, Mossel Bay, Cape Winelands will be the first areas to benefit from the initiative.

South Africa has recorded 12 coronavirus-related deaths.
