US Senate acquits President Trump of all impeachment charges

US President Donald Trump was acquitted of both impeachment charges he faced in the US Senate on February 5, 2020. Slightly more than half of the senators in the US Senate found him not guilty of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. It was a widely anticipated outcome for proceedings that would have required a two-thirds majority in the Republican-controlled Senate in order to remove him from office.
