Thai tourists get trapped on fairground ride for two hours after fuse box blew

Fairground revellers were left hanging in mid-air for two hours after the power cut out.

Families were enjoying the rotating 'cliffhanger' style rider when the fuse box blew in Chonburi, eastern Thailand.

Staff tried to fix the machine but they were so slow that revellers began to unfasten themselves and climb down.

Operators then used ropes to drag the carriage down so that those remaining people onboard could leave.

Footage from Monday (February 03) night shows the youngsters stuck at the top of the ride as mechanics desperately tried to get it started again.

One of the teenagers said that the machine was full of revellers when it started but they then clambered out after it became stuck.

She said: "When the machine started there were lots of people but then the lights went out and we were stuck.

"The little children started to climb down but we could not pass through the safety rail and had to wait for over an hour, because the staff was fixing the machine slowly. Then people helped us by using ropes to pull us down.''
