While Americans hit a record breaking turnout in 2018, it still was only 50 percent. According to Gizmodo, Lyft wants to help voters get to the polls by offering a free ride. The company began a Voting Access Program that will give ride vouchers to in-need riders. Lyft acknowledged that 15 million eligible voters didn’t vote because they didn’t have a way to get there. The free service is available due to partnerships with nonprofits such as the League of Women Voters.
