The former captain has always been vocal about the issues in Indian domestic circuit and has always maintained that Ranji Trophy should be given equal importance as the Indian Premier League (IPL) which has now gone ahead in the pecking order, according to many experts.

బీసీసీఐ అధికారులపై భారత మాజీ ఆటగాడు సునీల్ గవాస్కర్ మండిపడ్డారు. భారత దేశవాళీ క్రికెట్‌లో ప్రతిష్ఠాత్మకమైన రంజీ ట్రోఫీ స్థాయిని బీసీసీఐ అధికారులు రోజురోజుకి దిగజారుస్తున్నారని ఆగ్రహం వ్యక్తం చేసారు. భారత్‌-ఎ జట్టు పేరుతో అగ్రశ్రేణి ఆటగాళ్లను రంజీ ట్రోఫీకి దూరం చేస్తున్నారన్నారు. దేశవాళీ సీజన్‌ సమయంలో ప్రపంచంలోని ఏ జట్టు కూడా విదేశీ పర్యటనలకు ఆటగాళ్లను పంపించదు. ఐపీఎల్‌ జరిగే సమయంలో 'ఎ' జట్టు పర్యటనలు, అండర్-19 సిరీస్‌లు ఏర్పాటు చేస్తారా? అని బీసీసీఐని గవాస్కర్ ప్రశ్నించారు.
