Indonesia hosts colourful carnival for Chinese New Year celebrations

Surakarta hosted an annual carnival on January 21 for this year's Chinese New Year celebrations.

The activities were hosted by the city of Surakarta (known as Solo), central Java, and this is the 13th time the event has been held.

The carnival includes traditional lion dance players, traditional cultural dances, piles of food decorated into sculptures such as bridges and government buildings and decorated fruits.

This event lasts until the upcoming Chinese New Year on January 25, 2020.
