A cow that fell into a dry well was saved by a sympathetic farmer in north India who immediately paid to have a crane winch it free.

According to Jaswant Singh, the farmer from Mehndipur village in Khanna town in Punjab, when he came to his field at around 8:00am on January 16, he saw the cow in the dried-up well.

Singh immediately called a private crane service provider to the spot on his own expense.

The cow was harnessed with a rope and pulled up from the well with the help of crane. The rescue operation took around 80 minutes, with the cow being retrieved safely and unharmed.
