China identifies new coronavirus behind Wuhan pneumonia outbreak
  • 4 years ago
Chinese government scientists have identified a new coronavirus as the cause of a mystery pneumonia outbreak in the central city of Wuhan. At least 59 people were infected with the new strain, and a regional health alert was raised in Hong Kong and elsewhere in the region. No patients have died, but health authorities said the coronavirus is from the same family of viruses that caused the deadly 2002-3 Sars epidemic.
