  • 4 years ago
Have you ever sat through a presentation and felt bored? ……OR
Have you ever attended one where you could not take your ears off the speaker and your eyes off the screen?
Have you ever wished, you would have not fumbled when making a presentation? OR do you feel nervous when facing an audience to make one?
Making a presentation is a skill that can be a critical success factor for a professional.
Whether it is a sales presentation or a review presentation, it creates your first impact on a wide audience.
In this video, let’s look at how to make an effective presentation.
Let’s start with understanding what differentiates an effective presentation from an ineffective one.
An effective presentation keeps the audience interested and conveys the point or message. An ineffective presentation is where the audience is not interested in what is being presented and may be bored or engaged elsewhere.
Further, an effective presentation covers the topic thoroughly without being overwhelming. It is ineffective when either the content is shallow or is so detailed that audience members feel lost.
There are two components that make a presentation effective or ineffective – The content or subject matter and the presentation style of the presenter.
To make your presentation effective, keep the content crisp and concise, keep the audience’s educational background, professional level and expectations in mind. Make sure the slides contain the right amount of text, which is supported by appealing visuals.
Organize the content. Start with an introduction followed by the main content and a summary in the end.
You could narrate an experience or start with a quotation to start the presentation. This helps get the audience’s attention!
Last but not least, remember these points while making the presentation:
Be prepared;
Do not read out from the slides;
Make eye contact with all sections of the audience;
Use humour and anecdotes to keep the audience interested, and
Be confident.
