Thai river dries up leaving floating homes on riverbed

Residents of a floating village were left high and dry after the river keeping their homes up suffered a rare drought.
The Sakae Krang river in Uthai Thani, central Thailand has fallen to dangerously low levels this week - meaning that dozens of homes dropped to the bottom.
Many of the homes are built on wooden rafts, allowing locals to fish easily from their doorsteps, with fishing being the main source of income.
But weeks of dry weather without any rain have seen the river sink to its lowest ever level.
One resident said: "The drought has affected us negatively because our houses have been damaged and so have our jobs.
"There have been times before that the water level has dropped, but it has never been as low as it is now.
"We cannot catch fish until the water returns and we don't know when that will be. We could be waiting for months until the rainy season, or maybe the river will be dry forever.''
