Python coils around brave rescuer who pulls it out of 50-feet-deep well in India

This was the stunning moment a python coiled itself around a rescuer who climbed down a 50-feet-deep well in India to pull it up.

To add to the scare, the man lost grip and fell back into the well while climbing up. But both the man and the snake managed to climb up and are safe.

Shagil, who works as a forest watcher in Thrissur, received a call from a friend who had seen a python stuck inside a well in Kaipparambu village on December 9.

Shagil first tried to rescue the snake using a rope and a harness, but that failed as the well was too deep and the snake was too elusive.

The brave man then went down the well, pulled the snake towards him with the help of a branch, and managed to get a grip of its head.

As he started to climb up, the snake coiled around him. But Shagil continued to climb keeping a firm grip of its head.

But as he reached the surface, he lost his grip and plunged back to the well along with the snake.

"A man tried to pull me up by hand. But he got scared on seeing the snake and backed off instinctively letting me slip back," said Shagil.

As the water was deep no one was injured. Shagil first sent the snake up with a harness and then climbed back. The snake was released in its natural habitat later.
