Olympian marathoner and SEA Games Gold Medalist of the 2017 Sea Games Mary Joy Tabal collapsed after winning the silver medal in women's marathon of the 2019 Sea Games held at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac, Philippines. She was rushed to the medic room.

Christine Hallasgo won the marathon gold clocking in at 2:56:56 at the finish line, Hallasgo was almost two minutes clear of compatriot Tabal, who finished second at 2:58:49.
