hree thousand five hundred graduates including MBAs (Master of Business Administration) and engineers have applied for 549 posts of sweepers in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore city.
Thousands, including 500 candidates with professional degrees, thronged the city corporation’s office for interview and certificate verification on Wednesday, forcing the authorities to allocate two more days for short listing for a position that only requires fluency in Tamil and pays between Rs 15,700 to Rs.50,000.

देश में बेरोजगारी का हाल इस कदर है कि निम्न श्रेणी के पदों के लिए भी इंजीनियर, स्नातक धारक आवेदन कर रहे हैं। ऐसा एक बार फिर देखने को मिला जब तमिलनाडु में कोयम्बटूर सिटी म्यूनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन में 549 ग्रेड-1 सफाईकर्मियों के पदों के लिए कुल 7000 आवेदन आए। इसमें हैरान करने वाली बात यह है कि लगभग सभी आवेदन इंजीनियर, स्नातकों और डिप्लोमा धारकों ने किया है
