More than 300 people have been killed in Iraq’s anti-government protests that began in early October 2019. Protesters have taken to the streets to denounce a lack of basic services, high unemployment and government corruption. The demonstrations have become more violent as Iraqi security forces aggressively tried to disperse crowds with water cannons, tear gas and live ammunition.
