Work has begun to expand Incheon International Airport with an investment of about four-point-two billion U.S. dollars.
To meet growing demand, the money will be invested gradually over the next five years to build a fourth runway and other facilities, as well as expand Terminal 2.
Once the expansion's complete, the airport's capacity is expected to rise to more than 106 million passengers a year with each terminal able to manage more than 50 million each.
The transport ministry expects that would make Incheon the world's third biggest airport by passenger capacity after Dubai and Istanbul.
