Russia successfully test-launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from a new nuclear-powered submarine, for the first time.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that its Bulava missile was launched from the Vladimir submarine in the White Sea.
The missile reached its target, the Kura missile testing range... located hundreds of miles away in the Kamchatka peninsula.
The Vladimir, expected to join the country's navy in December, can carry up to 20 ICBMs, with each missile capable of carrying up to ten nuclear warheads that can be operated individually.
