President Moon Jae-in's mother Kang Han-ok has passed away on Tuesday at the age of 92.
President Moon Jae-in's mother passes of chronic illness; she was 92
She had been suffering from a chronic illness and had been hospitalized in the port city of Busan.
The president, shortly after ending his schedule in Suwon on Tuesday, went to see his mother.
This is the first time in South Korean history that a sitting president goes through bereavement while in office.
The presidential office said that the president wishes to handle the passing as a private funeral.
