Maharashtra assembly elections: know the political equation of Kalyan East seat
The Kalyan East assembly seat is one that has been occupied by an independent candidate for the last 10 years. In the last assembly election, Shiv Sena candidates were trailed by very few votes. In the 2009 assembly elections, Kalyan East's sitting MLA Ganpat Kalu Gaikwad defeated Shiv Sena candidate Pundalik Balu Mhatre. He then defeated Shiv Sena candidate Gopal Ramchandra Landage in the 2014 election.

कल्याण ईस्ट विधानसभा सीट ऐसी है जिस पर पिछले 10 सालों से निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार का कब्जा है। पिछले विधानसभा चुनाव में शिवसेना उम्मीदवार बेहद कम वोटों से पिछड़ गए थे। 2009 के विधानसभा चुनाव में कल्याण ईस्ट के मौजूदा विधायक गणपत कालू गायकवाड ने शिवसेना उम्मीदवार पुंडलिक बालू म्हात्रे को हराया था। इसके बाद 2014 के चुनाव में उन्होंने शिवसेना उम्मीदवार गोपाल रामचंद्र लांडगे को मात दी।
