U.S. approves S. Korea's new ambassador after delay
  • 5 years ago
South Korea's presidential office says its nominee for U.S. ambassador, Lee Soo-hyuk,... has been approved by Washington.
Lee had to wait an unusually long two months for his approval, which some speculate might reflect Washington's disapproval of the Moon administration's decision to terminate its military intel-sharing pact with Japan.
Lee is a lawmaker with the ruling Democratic Party.
He's experienced in inter-Korean affairs,... having negotiated on behalf of South Korea in the first six-party talks.
