announced her plan to guarantee every American
worker six months of paid medical and family leave. Kamala Harris, via statement This includes workers who identify as self-
employed or as an independent contractor. Under her plan, workers earning less than $75,000 a year
would qualify for full payment during their absence. Higher-wage households would also receive
pay, but in progressively smaller amounts. The plan would reportedly be funded by unspecified
“general revenues,” income taxes on the top 1%
of income earners and new payroll taxes. An estimated $180 million would also
be brought in by fining corporations that
