U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has defended President Trump over the administration's dealings with Ukraine,... amid an escalating impeachment inquiry into the President.
During an on-stage interview in Athens,... Pompeo blasted journalists for scrutinizing his role in the controversial phone call between Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart in July.
Pompeo said the phone call was totally appropriate and that the administration was trying to prevent a corrupt government in Ukraine... and look into its possible meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.
He says such conversations are a "normal part" of diplomacy and told reporters to cover issues that matter to people.
Pompeo also said that the State Department responded to a Congressional request for documents,... as part of the impeachment investigation.
