Hi, I'm Indiana personal injury attorney David Holub.
Car and truck tires cannot be expected to last forever. Rubber degrades over time. Old tires should be replaced even when the tread does not appear to be worn. Even with proper tire maintenance and proper inflation, tire related crashes occur. Though blow out related crashes are far less frequent than they were 40 years ago, they still happen. But, what if new tires, or tires that have only been used for a short time, cause you to suffer a blowout and crash, should you consult a lawyer?
The answer is yes. Because of the way they are manufactured, steel-belted radial tires are especially prone to tread separation. Tread separation can cause a driver to lose control of a vehicle. Tread separation is usually due to a defect in the manufacturing process. Perhaps the rubber used was too old and dry, or the tire was not properly inspected during the manufacturing process. It will take a skilled expert to analyze what if any role tire failure may have played in a particular crash.
We encourage anyone who believes that a defective tire led to an injury in an automobile accident or truck accident, to seek legal help.
