Sales for E-Cigarettes Slow Down
Following Recent Controversy.
New data from Nielsen says
there has been a decline
in purchases of Juul items.
The data firm based its figures
off a 12-week time span that
stopped on September 21.
In the last four weeks of the span, Nielsen says sales increased 31.2 percent.
By comparison, sales for the longer 12-week period leading up to
September 21 were 56.2 percent.
The news comes as illnesses connected
to vaping continue to rise in the U.S.
The number of fatalities in relation to
use of the device has also increased.
Nielsen goes on to report that
e-cigarette sales in general have fallen.
The recent four-week period
shows a 38.1 percent sale increase.
Compared to the overall
12-week stretch, that is
a 10 percent drop
