Just a few days after the Ukraine scandal burst into the limelight, a formal impeachment inquiry into U.S. President Donald Trump has been launched by the Democrats.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the move on Tuesday, claiming the U.S. leader had flouted laws and violated U.S. Constitutional order.
Trump wasted little time responding on Twitter, denouncing it as "Witch Hunt garbage."
President Trump had earlier revealed he had "authorized the release on Wednesday of "the complete, fully declassified and un-redacted transcript" of his conversation with Ukraine's president.
His decision comes after reports emerged that an anonymous whistleblower claimed Trump repeatedly pressured the new leader of Ukraine to probe former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter at a time when Kiev was desperate for U.S. military aid.
