Hong Kong police deny beating protester, saying officers kicked a ‘yellow object’

Hong Kong police are discounting claims that a video circulated online shows officers kicking a man in a yellow vest. A police spokesman said the images reportedly filmed during protests in Yuen Long on September 21, 2019, only showed officers kicking “a yellow object”. Local volunteer group “protect the children”, which is often seen on the front line of protests trying to negotiate with police, said the man was a member and was found to have injuries consistent with being kicked.
