SNP MP Joanna Cherry interviewed by press outside the UK Supreme Court on day two of hearing on prorogation of Parliament

Day two of three-day hearing on the PM's decision to suspend parliament takes place at the UK Supreme Court today (September 18).
Speaking outside the UK Supreme Court on day two of Parliament prorogation hearing, the SNP MP Joanna Cherry says: "What the Scottish Court said was: It's not for the judges to politically scrutinize the Government. That is the job for Parliament. But when the Government suspends Parliament, preventing it from doing its job, then the judges can step in to ensure the democracy is restored."
"If the UK Supreme Court follows Scotland Supreme Court and if they found that the prorogation was unlawful, null and void - there would be nothing to stop Parliament from resuming immediately and Boris Johnson's position would be in question because he would be found to have misled the people."
The case at the Supreme Court will last three days. It follows separate cases against the Government over the PM's advice to the Queen to "prorogue" Parliament until 14 October - one of the longest periods in modern history and the second case in the entire UK history.
