MANILA, Philippines - Lawyer Gigi Reyes, one of the accused in the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam, was rushed to a hospital in Taguig after suffering seizures during her first night at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan. Initial reports said Reyes was brought to Taguig Pateros District Hospital at around 1 a.m., just two hours after she was brought to the Bicutan jail. Her lawyers said Reyes suffered a panic attack, which caused seizures. They said Reyes was diagnosed with hypertensive urgency and neurocirculatory asthenia. Doctors are also conducting a series of tests to rule out cardiac arrhythmia because Reyes has a history of dyspepsia, coronary artery disease, Bell's palsy and seizure attack. Reyes' lawyers also filed a motion for reconsideration before the Sandiganbayan Third Division, asking that Reyes be transferred to the Philippine National Police Custodial Center at Camp Crame. Reyes was brought to Camp Bagong Diwa Wednesday night after the Sandiganbayan denied her request to be transferred to the PNP Custodial Center where her co-accused in the pork barrel scam plunder case are detained.
